摘  要:国内的英语演说研究侧重于对英语演讲比赛进行研究,研究对象多为英语专业和参加英语演说比赛的学生。该研究则以226名非英语专业的普通高校的大学生为研究对象,目的是提高他们的英语演说水平。在研究的过程中发现在英语演说中表现的突出问题是学生的焦虑心理,其焦虑心理很容易从他们的语言表达和身体反应上看出来。借鉴西方相关的研究成果,文章在研究的过程中使用了"减轻焦虑"的评分标准和实施了"否定性自我评估"策略,结果发现这些方法能在短期内帮助缺乏英语演说经验的学生提高克服英语演说焦虑带来的负面影响的能力和英语演说水平。Past research in English speaking in China mainly focuses on English speaking contest and English-major students. This research focuses on 226 non-English major Chinese college students who lack in English speaking experience through in-class training in College English and aims at helping improve average Chinese college students' English speaking ability. Results of the study show that the most noticeable problem of them is their presentation anxiety and that their distorted expressive reactions and linguistic symptoms of anxiety can be easily observed. According to their anxiety,the researchers of the study have proposed a new judging criterion for "alleviating anxiety"and a new strategy of"critical negative self-evaluation". Results of the study show that combining western research findings with the judging criteria for "alleviating anxiety"and the "critical negative self-evaluation"based on the characteristics of Chinese students and Chinese traditional teaching philosophy has helped them cope with negative impact of anxiety on English presentation and improve their English speaking ability after shortsession practices.
