摘　　要：国家能力与社会治理是当前中国的重要议题。米格代尔的"社会中的国家"研究从观念和实践两个层面重新定义了"国家",并在实践层面重点分析了国家能力及其影响因素,发展出"有限国家"的理论观点,为国家与社会的互动与合作寻找到重要的结合点。这些观点在理论和实践两个方面为中国的学者和政策执行者提供了有益的启示。State capacity and social governance are both important issues in current China. Joel S. Migdal＇research of ＂state in the society＂redefines＂state＂from both concept and practice level,he especially focuses on the analysis of the state capability and its influence factors at the practical level,and then develops the theory of ＂limited state＂,which is the key point for the interaction and cooperation between the state and the society. These ideas provide useful implications for scholars and policy makers in China in two aspects of theory and practice.
