摘　　要：在哲学界,"哲学不可有一般定义"的观点长期流行。其理由是:哲学不能通过说"是什么"去加以定义;哲学只有"家族相似",而无共同本质;哲学只有时代特殊性、民族特殊性、个体价值性,而无所谓一般哲学或哲学一般;至今没有哲学家们所共同认可的哲学定义等。这些理由有的主观武断、有的似是而非、有的概念混乱、有的以偏概全,因此必须加以系统的、根本的澄清,借以说明哲学有其存在的客观根据,因而可以有一般定义。哲学是以普遍方式把握人与世界关系的理论。理解哲学的一般本质有助于消解人们对哲学的隔膜与迷茫,激发其学习和应用哲学的热情。In philosophical circle,the long accepted idea is that ' there could be no general definition for philosophy.' The reason is that philosophy cannot be defined through explaining 'what it is';it only has family resemblance but no common essence;there is only temporal,ethnic,and individual particularity for philosophy but no so general philosophy or philosophy in general;and so far there has been no universally accepted definition of philosophy.Some of these reasons are subjective and arbitrary,while others are apparendy true but really wrong;some confuse concepts,others mistake parts for the whole.It is necessary to have some systematic and basic clarification on the objective grounds of philosophy,which makes it possible for it to have a general definition.That is to say,philosophy is the theory that grasps in a general way the relationship between human beings and the world.Understanding the general essence of philosophy helps remove people's estrangement widi and confusion about philosophy,and inspire people's enthusiasm to learn and apply it.
