As an intercultural communication, translation should not only focus on its fidelity to the source text, but more on the reader's response, on the basis of which the translator can make full play of his subjectivity. This pa- per tries to analyze from the perspective of translator's involvement and reader's reception the British Cenozoic si- nologist and translator Julia Lovell's translation of LU Xun's novel -- The Real Story of Ah-Q and Other Tales of China and Lust, Caution -- and her translation theory and strategy in dealing with the intercultural problems. In this way, the paper aims to make a glimpse of a more effective way of the introduction of Chinese novels and essays to the world.
