摘 要:中国英语教育的产生和发展本质上是英语及英美新教文化向中华文化传播的历程,同时造就了中华文化反向传播的条件和途径。近代以来,新教教义、个人主义、宪政民主三位一体的美式文化霸权始终影响着中华民族的文化独立与复兴。当代中国的现代化道路逐渐成熟,综合国力大幅跃升,民族文化复兴已成大势,中国英语教育将肩负中华文化国际传播的新使命。The birth and development of the education of English in China are essentially a process of the dissemination of English and the Anglo-American Protestant culture. However, it also creates some conditions and means for Chinese culture to counter-disseminate. In the contemporary history, the American cultural hegemony represented by its Protestantism, individualism, and constitutional democracy remains a standing force affecting China's cultural independence and renaissance. In the present China, modernization is going on a full swing, comprehensive national strength is rising by leaps and bounds, and a cultural renaissance is underway, China^s education of English shall shoulder up its new burden of disseminating the Chinese culture overseas.
