Objective To investigate the level of circulating tumor cells( CTC) in peripheral blood of gastric cancer and its correlation with clinical features and stage, and tumor markers in gastric cancer. Methods Totally 80 patients with gastric cancer were selected for study,50 patients with chronic gastritis and 50 normal volunteers were selected as the control groups. The CTC expression of peripheral blood was detected by Cellsearch system before treated, and its relationship with the age, sex, clinical stage and tumor marker was analyzed. Results CTC count in gastric cancer patients was significantly higher than that in chronic gastritis patients and healthy controls( P〈0. 01). CTC count in gastric cancer patients was rarely related to the sex, age( P〈0. 05) and was closely related to clinical stage( P〈0. 05). CTC counting had no obvious correlation with CEA,CA199( P〉0. 05)),and had positive correlation with CA724( P〈0.05). Conclusion CTC counting in gastric cancer patients has a certain correlation with clinical characteristics, can preliminarily reflect the patient's disease states, and is expected to become a new hematology index to improve the early diagnosis of gastric cancer.
