摘　　要：我国对高校通识教育的探讨始于20世纪末,通识教育以其自身对于价值教育、"全人"教育、民族文化教育的强调,较好地适应了社会的需求,形成了良好的发展态势,目前全国高校均初步建立了通识教育体系。通过对中美高校通识教育资料的梳理与分析,可以进一步明确通识教育的概念,厘清中美高校通识教育的具体实践及效果,探索我国高校通识教育进一步发展的可行模式。Since the late twentieth century, the discussions about general education in Chinese universities have gained increasing attentions. Stressing on the value education, holistic education and national culture education,general education can adapt well to the social needs and have formed a good development trend. Nowadays almost all the universities in China have built up the general education system. Through collecting and analyzing relevant materials on the general education researches in Chinese and American universities, this article tries to further clarify the definition of this term, analyze the specific practices and outcomes, and explore the feasible mode for the future development of general education in domestic universities.
