摘　　要：莫欣·哈米德的小说《拉合尔茶馆的陌生人》呈现了主人公昌岗兹从外族移民成为美国主人、被排斥为外人最后被迫成为伊斯兰原教旨主义者的过程。本文运用德里达等学者的好客理论,揭示主人公身份转变过程中所反映出的主客关系的变化,并由此分析主人与外人身份的流动性和主人与人质之间关系的模糊性,而这些恰恰体现了作为流散作家的哈米德对将东西方对立的观念的批判、对伊斯兰移民身份认同的思考以及对文明间可能对话形式的探索。Mohsin Hamid＇s The Reluctant Fundamentalist presents the Pakistani protagonist Changez＇s experiences from becoming a host in the U.S., being estranged as a stranger after 9/11 to an Islamic fundamentalist. By using the theory of hospitality, this paper analyzes the fluidity between the host and the guest, and the ambiguity between the host and the hostage through revealing the manifold changing relationship between the host and the guest along with Changez＇s identity shifts. Such fluidity and ambiguity manifest the diasporic writer Hamid＇s critique of the long-time binary opposition between the East and the West, and his attempts at exploring the identity issue of Islamic immigrants and possible ways of communication between different cultures.
