摘　　要：日本国立大学产生之初被赋予"适应国家需要"的历史使命。随着时代发展及日本高等教育系统内部私立大学的崛起,国立大学渐失往日特权,在功能定位、组织形态、内部治理结构等领域都面临着"再造",即使命再定义。它的主要方向是围绕国立大学的优势、特色及对社会的作用调整其定位及功能,以实现灵活应对急剧变革的社会环境的目的。Meeting national needs was the historical mission of Japanese Universities at its inception. With the development of society and emergence of private universities in the higher education system, national un. iversities had lost their privilege they possessed, so that they faced the reconstruction in such fields as function identification, organizational formats and internal governance structure. Their mission redefinition should mainly be leaded by modifying their identification and function based on the advantages, traits and contribution to the society, aiming at coping with radically changing social environment.
