再论杨周翰的比较文学和世界文学研究

摘　　要：在中国当代比较文学和世界文学研究中,杨周翰堪称一位大师级的人物。他早年领衔主编《欧洲文学史》,对现代主义以前的欧洲文学有着总体的把握和精当的描述。上世纪80年代后期以来他步入比较文学研究领域,并开始发表中西比较文学方面的论文。但他的研究并没有受到欧洲中心主义的束缚,而是强调作为中国学者研究比较文学,一定要有中国人的灵魂,也即从中国学者的视角来看待世界文学;此外,他对中国古代文学和诗学也有着很深的造诣,在对中国文学的研究中,他也能自觉地将其放在一个广阔的世界文学语境中考察研究。即使在对国别文学——英国文学的研究中,他也始终贯穿着一种比较的视野和中国的理论视角。这些都是他能够赢得国际学界尊重的重要原因,同时也是我们今天纪念他并继承他留给我们的遗产的重要原因。In contemporary China＇s field of comparative and world literature studies,Yang Zhouhan（ 1915- 1989） should be regarded as a great master. Early in the 1960 s,he took the lead in editing A History of European Literature in Chinese,representing his general grasp and precise description of European literature before the rise of modernism. Since the 1980 s,he was engaged in the studies of comparative literature and started to publish on this topic. But his research was not influenced by the Eurocentric mode of thinking,but rather,emphasized that as Chinese scholars of comparative literature studies,we should have a Chinese soul. That is,we should view world literature from a unique Chinese perspective.In addition,he also had profound attainment in classical Chinese literature and poetics. In his study of Chinese literature,he would conscientiously observe it in a broad context of world literature. Even in his study of English literature,he still had a comparative horizon and theoretical perspective. These are the very reasons why Yang could be respected by his international peers and why we should commemorate him today and inherit the heritage he has left behind him.
