摘　　要：埃敏·雷哈尼是美国文学"叙美派"的先驱,他不仅活跃于20世纪的阿拉伯语和英语文坛,而且频频亮相于政界,他类型多样的作品和超时代的思想带给世人无限启发。1911年由美国托德·米德公司于首次出版的《哈立德之书》是他用英语创作的第一部小说。这部作品带有浓郁的自传色彩,既包含了作者对前30年人生的回顾与反思,更包含了作者对文化、宗教、民族等问题的思考与感悟。小说创作于1907—1911年,那是雷哈尼一生极其重要的五年,在此期间他享誉后世的思想观点基本成型,因此学界也称雷哈尼哲学为"哈立德主义",它启发、鼓舞了从哈利勒·纪伯伦到爱德华·萨义德等一批批阿拉伯裔作家、思想家,《哈立德之书》被视为阿拉伯裔美国文学的里程碑。Ameen Rihani,the pioneer of Syria- American Literature,deeply involved himself not only in literature but also in politics in the 1920 s. Rihani＇s various works and ideas far ahead of his age are very impressive and inspiring. Based on the real experience of Rihani＇s early life,his first Arab American novel The Book of Khalid is regarded as the milepost in Arab American literature and the key to Rihani＇s philosophy which inspired and encouraged a group of talented Arabic American writers,poets and thinkers such as Kahlil Gibran and Edward W.Said. This paper focuses on the relationship between the theme of the novel and Rihani＇s philosophy,aiming at exploring the basic viewpoints of Ameen Rihani,the great writer,poet,philosopher and political activist.
