Objective A 24 -item simplified food frequency questionnaire (SFFQ) is to be designed for Sichuan area, and to evaluate the reproducibility and validity of the SFFQ. Methods The SFFQ was administered among aging people who had come to Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital for physical examination,in which 78 interviewers accomplished twice at a short interval while 92 people completed the survey of SFFQ for once and a 3d 24h - dietary record employed as reference method was used to assess the relative validity. Results Crude Pearson correlation coefficient of the two SFFQ ranged from 0. 499 to 0. 835. Mean crude, log -transformed and energy - adjusted correlation coefficients were 0. 668,0. 701 and 0. 592, respectively. In validity evaluation, crude Pearson correlation coefficient ranged from O. 443 to 0. 644, with an average value of O. 539,0. 578,0. 473 for crude, log - transformed and energy - adjusted correlation coefficient, respectively. Conclusion The SFFQ showed a reasonable reproducibility and validity, and can be used to investigate the relationship between chronic diseases and food intake of the elderly in Chengdu.
