摘　　要：文言在翻译中是不可忽视的语言与文体资源。刘炳善的英国随笔翻译,广泛采用了文言词汇、句式与篇章资源,取得了良好的艺术效果。文言入译,是一种形态调节与意蕴再造。文学翻译中,文言可以成为锻造文体的材料、调节声律的工具、增添意蕴的方式。文言修养的提高有助于翻译能力的提升。The classical Chinese is a resource available for translation from foreign languages into Chi- nese. LIU Bing - shah makes extensive use of classical Chinese vocabulary, sentence patterns and texts in producing excellent translation of English essays. The use of classical Chinese in translation is a morpho- logical adaptation and meaning construction. Classical Chinese can be used to forge a certain style, to cre- ate phonological effects, or to enhance the implications. Mastering classical Chinese will help improve translation competency.
