In recent years, the incidence and prevalence of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)has been increasing all over the world and the pathogenesis of NAFLD is unclear. But effective methods of prevention and treatment of NAFLD are insufficient. Now it is widely considered that obesity related NAFLD is a multisystem disease. Recent studies have confirmed that the intestinal flora and their metabolites play an important role in the pathogenesis of obesity related NAFLD. As the main metabolites of intestinal flora,short-chain fatty acids(SCFAs)may mediate the systematic inflammatory response, and directly or indirectly affect the incidence and development of obesity related NAFLD through a variety of ways(intestinal, adipose tissue and liver). Therefore, study on SCFAs and short-chain fatty acid receptors signaling pathways will provide new targets for the prevention and treatment of obesity related NAFLD.
