The Metamorphosis and Rhinoceros both developed their stories in the theme of deformation. In The Metamorphosis people were forced to deform. While in Rhinoceros people chose to deform. Although the forms of deformation were different in the two works, they both expressed the theme of dissimilation in human nature. The dissimilation in human nature in the two works was determined by the authors' historical background, social status and their life experiences. In the end,the authors preached to people that only being a self-made man can help us get rid of inhumane status, and pursue the fullest development of humanity.
