摘 要:阅读理解受认知风格和工作记忆这样一些个体差异因素的影响,而且学习者的认知风格可能和工作记忆一起交互影响学习者的阅读理解能力。本研究基于Riding的认知风格理论和Baddeley的工作记忆相关理论,以郑州大学医学和机械工程专业的学生作为研究样本,研究认知风格、工作记忆与外语阅读理解的相关性。Reading comprehension is influenced by many individual difference factors including working memory and cognitive style. Besides, learners' cognitive style and working memory are likely to interact with each other to influence their reading comprehension performance. Based on Riding's cognitive style theory and Baddeley's working memory theory, choosing 118 sophomores from the School of Medicine and that of Mechanical Engineering of Zhengzhou University as the participants, the research found out that learners' cognitive style and working memory respectively have an influence on reading comprehension, analysts perform better than wholists in EFL reading comprehension test. Learners with high working memory capacity tend to perform well at EFL reading comprehension test, while those with low working memory capacity are likely to perform poorly. Learners' cognitive style interacts with their English working memory capacity in influencing their EFL reading comprehension performance. English working memory capacity tends to have higher impact on analysts than on wholists. Analysts are likely to perform well if they have high working memory capacity but poorly if they have low working memory capacity. Wholists are generally unaffected by their working memory capacity but show relatively average performance.
