摘　　要：作为一位向西方国家介绍了大量中国文学作品的华籍美裔译者,沙博理对中国文化的国际传播做出了卓越贡献。沙博理在文学翻译实践中,既践行忠实原则,又对"翻译者即叛逆者"这一意大利戏言感同身受,本文因此将沙博理的文学翻译观界定为"忠实性叛逆",认为叛逆是为了达到更大程度的忠实。即两个"忠实"与两个"叛逆":忠于原文思想和译文读者,逆于原文的部分内容和形式。通过对《新儿女英雄传》英译本具体翻译策略和方法的仔细分析,对这一"忠实性叛逆"文学翻译观进行解读,以期有助于探寻中国文学作品英译之可行方法。Sidney Shapiro, an American Chinese translator who introduced numerous Chinese literary works to western countries, made a huge contribution to the international transmission of Chinese culture. When translating Chinese literary works into English, Shapiro adhered to the principle of faithfulness as well as offered empathy of the Italian saying ＂ Trattutore e tratitore＂, thus we define his translation view as ＂faithful treason＂ which means treason is for the sake of greater faithfulness, that is, be faithful to the target readers and the ideas of the original work, betray part of the content and form of the original work. Through a detailed analysis of Shapiro＇ s specific translation strategies and methods adopted in his English translation of Sons and Daughters, this paper conducted an in-depth interpretation of ＂ faithful treason＂ translation view in order to look for feasible strategies and methods for English translation of Chinese literary works.
