元话语及其在英语学术论文中的应用

摘　　要：元话语是关于话语的话语,在英语学术语篇的写作、阅读中能起到组织话语、联系读者并表达写作者态度和立场的重要作用。本文对元话语研究的相关理论发展主要是元话语的定义和分类、以及元话语在学术语篇领域主要是学术论文的实证研究进行梳理,旨在突出元话语研究的重要性,它不仅可以有助于我们更好地理解学术语篇,其实证研究也可以在一定意义上为学术论文的写作及教学提供指导。Metadiscourse is commonly characterised as ＇discourse about discourse＇ and it is an important concept in writing and reading process of English academic texts. It helps organise the discourse, engage or connect readers , signal the writer＇s attitude and better interpret the writer＇s stance. This paper sorts out the theoretical development mainly about the definition and classification of metadiscourse and the empirical studies of metadiscourse in academic texts especially academic papers. It tends to highlight the importance of researches of metadiscourse which helps us better interpret academic texts and its empirical studies can provide guidance in writing and teaching academic papers.
