摘　　要：美国高校汉语教学是美国汉语教学发展的一支重要力量,能够从一个侧面反映美国主流社会对汉语人才的需求,同时对基础教育、成人教育以及社会教育也具有一定的导向作用。为理清美国高校汉语教学的发展脉络,本文将其大致分为四个时期:1)高校汉语课程设置标志美国高校汉语教学的创立;2)战时需要推动美国高校汉语教学的进一步发展;3)和平的时代背景下美国高校汉语教学快速发展;4)新世纪中国国际地位提升推动美国高校汉语教学蓬勃发展。Chinese language teaching in university is a major force of USA Chinese language teaching. It reflects the needs of mainstream American society from one side ; it also has a certain role in guiding basic education, adult education and social education. This article divided the history of the development of Chinese language teaching process in American universities into four periods ： 1 ） the establishment of Chi- nese course marked the creation of Chinese language teaching in American Universities ; 2） further devel- opment of the war promoted Chinese language teaching to another level; 3 ） under the background peace, Chinese teaching in American Universities developed rapidly; 4） China＇s international status of in the new century enhanced Chinese teaching in American Universities to flourish.
