摘  要:要理解"大学最本质的任务不是创新,而是传承人类良知"一言之深刻内涵,须了解"职业技艺之学"与"神圣天职之教"的区分,前者是一个社会制造物质财富的凭借,一个人获得生活报酬的手段,只有工具的意义,没有绝对的意义;后者是让人完成人之为人的天职,彰显人的尊严与价值,固有绝对的价值。因此,任何人都必须接受"神圣天职之教"的熏染。"职业技艺之学"因与经验世界相关,故需要变化与创新;"神圣天职之教"则是开发人固有的善端,只有存养工夫的精进,无有义理的创新,故只需传承。在此基础上,进一步可说明,一个学者当为"神圣天职之教"尽责,更不能以学术自由之名义来反对"神圣天职之教"。To understand the deep connotation of Zhang's saying, "The essential mission of university is not innovation, but inheriting human conscience", we have to make sense of the difference between "the learning of vocational technique" and "the educating of divine duty". The former is a vehicle of manufacturing material wealth of the society, a means of obtaining living substance of a human being, which only has the meaning of tools without absolute meaning. The latter makes one complete his divine duty of a human being, demonstrating human dignity and value, which is an inherent absolute value. Therefore, everyone should accept the edification of "the educating of divine duty". "The learning of vocational technique" needs changes and innovation because of its relevance to experiential world, while "the educating of divine duty" can just be inherited, because it is to develop human inherent good nature, which only has improvement of the cultivation of human temperament, and obviously has no innovation of Dao. On this basis, we can further expound that a scholar should loyally engage in "the educating of divine duty", and should not object it in the name of academic freedom.
