Objective To explore the value of high-frequency ultrasonography in the differential diagnosis between hemangioma and vascular malformation of pediatric superficial tissue. Methods Thirty-four cases with superficial hemangioma or vascular malformation who were ultrasound diagnosed by high-frequency color Doppler and confirmed by surgical pathology were analyzed retrospectively. Comparison between the ultrasonic diagnosis and pathological results was carried out and the ultrasonic characteristics were summarized. Results The detection rate of the ultrasonic diagnosis of 11 hemangiomata, 13 venous malformations and 10 artery malformations was 100% , except 2 cases of venous malformation misdiagnosed as artery malformation. All results of ultrasound diagnosis coincided with pathological diagnoses. Diagnostic ultrasound and pathological diagnosisrate was 94.1 % (32/34). Conclusion High frequency ultrasound has important clinical value in the differential diagnosis between hemangioma and vascular malformation of pediatric superficial tissue. It can he used as the preferred inspection method.
