从翻译期待规范视角看中国诗词的外译——以苏轼《江城子·乙卯正月二十日夜记梦》的两个英译本为例  

On English Translation of Chinese Poems from the Perspective of Expectancy Norms:A Case Study of Two English Versions of Su Shi's Jiang Cheng Zi

摘　　要：文章选取苏轼《江城子·乙卯正月二十日夜记梦》两个英译本作为研究对象,从切斯特曼翻译期待规范的角度出发,对两个英译本中词牌名及词中特有的时间和地点(距离)概念以及具有中国文化特色的意象的翻译进行分析比较,发现期待规范对于翻译策略的选择有很大影响。翻译必须符合期待规范,同时译者应该加强对中西方文化差异性的了解,打破文化障碍,突出交流目的,更好地宣传中国文化。Based on Chesterman＇s expectancy norm theory,this paper makes a comparative study of two English versions of Su Shi＇s Jiang Cheng Zi.By analyzing translation of names,concepts of time and distance,as well as other culture-loaded words in the poem,the paper finds that expectancy norms have great influence on the choice of translation strategies.Translation activities must be in accordance with readers＇ expectancy norms.Translators should know more about the cultural differences and break the cultural barriers to create successful communication,thus to spread Chinese culture.
