摘 要:企业年报主席致辞对于品牌文化传播有着重要作用,恰当的语言策略可传递积极健康的形象。本文基于Halliday的系统功能语法理论框架,以60篇英文版的中美企业主席致辞为语料,从词汇复杂性和句法复杂性两个层面对其语言复杂性进行对比研究,以期为主席致辞的撰写、翻译及教学提供可行性建议。结论如下:所用词汇密度均较高,均属于正式的书面语体;中国企业主席致辞的词汇复杂性高于美国企业,而语法复杂性则相反;所用名词、形容词和数词在数量和质量上有较大差异。Chairman's speech of annual reports becomes increasingly important for brands' cultural transmission. Meanwhile,companies incline to choose appropriate linguistic expressions to deliver positive corporate image. Based on Halliday's Systemic Functional Grammar theory,regarding respectively 30 speeches in English-version of Chinese and US company chairmen as corpora,this paper comparatively studies the lexical complexity and syntactic complexity,in order to provide feasible suggestion for the writing,translation and teaching of chairmen speech. It can be concluded as follows: 1) The lexical density of chairman speech of both Chinese and American enterprises is very high,belonging to highly formal writing; 2) Chinese company chairman speech has higher lexical complexity than that of US company,while the syntactic complexity is on the opposite; 3) There are big differences between Chinese and American chairman speech in words choices,especially in the number and quality of nouns,adjectives and numerals.
