摘　　要：南洋公学学生群体是清末新式高等学堂学生群体的一个缩影。作为清末办学规模较大、办理成绩较好的少数几所新式高等学堂之一,考察南洋公学在校学生的人数规模、入校年龄、籍贯、入学前教育背景等基本概况,可以总结出南洋公学的学生群体具有在校人数少、入学年龄差距大、生源集于周边地区、入学者多为新士绅等特征。借此典型个案,可以窥见清末首批在新式学堂就读的学生群体的若干特点。The students group of Nanyang College(1896-1905) was an epitome of those in the colleges and universities in the Late Qing Dynasty. Through investigation on students scale,ages,native places and educational background of Nanyang,the following characteristics could be drawn: few students,big age gap,more from the surrounding area of Shanghai. By this typical case,some characteristics about student group in the Late Qing Dynasty could be learned.
