Renin angiotensin system (RAS) is an important endocrine regulation system which has the function of regulating blood pressure, sodium balance and so on. In recent years, it has been found that the imbalance of RAS was closely related to the occurrence and development of various liver diseases. Partial complete RAS system exists in liver tissue, which would be activated when the liver cells or liver tissue were stimulated by some pathogenic factors, and the activity of each component was enhanced and redistributed, which would affect the development of liver diseases. Early studies have confirmed that the up-regulated expression of ACE-AngⅡ -AT1R axis may aggravate liver injury and accelerate the development of various liver diseases. The newly discovered ACE2-Ang (1-7)-Mas axis has been consistently proved to be the reverse regulating shaft of ACEce-Ang Ⅱ -AT1R axis, which is named as "Altemative classic axis on RAS" and plays the role of antagonizing the ACE-AngⅡ -AT1R axis and alleviating or reversing the progress of liver diseases. This research reviewed the recent studies about the effect of RAS on the development of various liver diseases in order to provide a new way to find a more effective method to relieve and cure liver diseases.
