摘　　要：尽管英美两国小说的历史概貌大相径庭,其美学策略也不尽相同,但两者在沿革历程中的关联性和互动性却不容置疑。作为"新大陆"拓荒者的精神食粮,早期英国小说不仅对美洲大陆清教主义和启蒙思想的传播产生了重要影响,而且也对美国小说的诞生具有强烈的催化作用。本文旨在阐述早期英国小说在"新大陆"的影响,探讨其在美洲殖民地开发初期对移民作家的"美学诱惑"和示范效应,并揭示其在促进18世纪"跨大西洋智者互动"中的积极作用。同时,本文还对催生英美两国小说的关联性和互动性的多种因素作了详细的分析。Although the history of American fiction is not as long as that of British fiction and the aesthetic representations by the British and American writers are different,there is no doubt that they are interrelated and interactive. As mental food for the pioneers on the New Continent,early British fiction not only helped to disseminate the ideas of Puritanism and Enlightenment,but also gave an impetus to the birth of American fiction. This paper aims to discuss the influence of early British fiction on the New Continent,to explore its aesthetic enticement and exemplary role for the early practitioners of American fiction,and to demonstrate its important function in developing the transatlantic intellectual interaction in the 18 th century. Meanw hile the paper provides a detailed analysis of all kinds of factors arising from the interrelationship and interaction between British and American fiction.
