Many people think that Socrates is defamed in Aristophanes' The Clouds. In fact, Strepsiades and his son have corrupted before they go for Socrates. Socrates just attempts to teach Strepsiades and Pheidippides to live moral lives. However, Socrates' moral education has inherent weakness. Elenchus can serve good moral goal and in the same time it can be used to defend for evil and desire. Ignorance and desire make Strepsiades and Pheidippides view Socrates as their own kind. On the contrary, Aristophanes has insight into their difference and realizes Socrates' inevitable failure.
