营利性高等教育活动本质与主要特征:理性主义的视角

摘　　要：营利性高等教育已经成为一个重要的全球现象,但对其定位始终存有争议,各国政策实践也颇有差异。文章从营利性高等教育产生的观念基础出发,从理性主义视角来论述营利性高等教育的活动本质以及主要特征,最后对如何看待营利性高等教育相关问题进行探讨。研究发现,知识的商品化与知识的可交易性、可营利性是现代营利性高等教育产生的观念基础。与传统高等教育相比,营利性高等教育活动的本质是"营利性",从理性主义的视角来看,围绕这一本质,营利性高等教育在教育内容、教师聘用和内部管理等方面,都呈现出不同于传统高等教育的特征,包括教育内容偏重技能培训、课程的模块化与标准化以及教师作用的分化等。现实中营利性高等教育的发展也正呈现出上述特征。这些特征反映出无论是在使命还是在适合的教育类型或内容方面,营利性高等教育都不同于传统的高等教育,这对当前我国界定营利性高等教育的内涵及适用范围具有启发意义。For-profit higher education has become a major worldwide phenomenon , but many disputes always exist and there are different policies and practices in different countries and areas .This paper begins with the discussion about the knowledge base of for-profit higher education , analyzes the nature and characteristics of for-profit higher education＇s activities with a perspective of rationalism , and discusses some related problems .It concludes that commoditization , exchangeability and profit-making ability of knowledge are the knowledge base of for-profit higher education .Compared with the traditional higher education , the nature of for-profit higher education activities lies in the “profit-making ability”.From the perspective of rationalism , around the essence , educational contents , teacher recruitment , internal management and other aspects of for-profit higher education present different characteristics from the traditional higher education , including the modularity and standardization of curriculum , and the differen-tiations of teachers＇roles, etc.The above analysis suggests that not only the mission but also the type and scope of for -profit high-er education are different from the traditional higher education .Therefore, this paper has heuristic value to on how to define the connotation and the scope of application for-profit higher education .
