主位推进理论在科普英汉语篇翻译中的应用——以《时间简史》第十二章翻译为例

摘　　要：主位推进理论是研究语篇翻译的有效工具。以《时间简史》第十二章翻译为语料,从段落和句群两个层次探讨主位推进模式在英汉科普语篇翻译中的应用,指出了在科普翻译实践中,译者在生成语篇时,可以通过保留或部分调整源语语篇的主位推进模式,以求实现与原作在形式和意义上的对等。Thematic progression theory is a useful tool to study text translation. This paper investigated the application of thematic progression patterns in English-Chinese popular science text translation in two aspects based on the language materials of the twelfth part from A Brief History of Time through statistical approach. Accordingly, it concludes that the translators can remain or partly change the original thematic progression patterns in popular science translation practice so as to achieve equivalence in form and meaning when forming the target text.
