摘　　要：菲利普·罗斯在《鬼作家》中探讨了主人公深陷伦理困境中,如何用理性意志控制自由意志,作出伦理抉择,为我们诠释了一个现代的斯芬克斯之谜,即怎样做一个真正的理性作家和一个有理性的人。通过探究主人公们内心的矛盾、困惑、不确定性和无奈,罗斯为我们很好地诠释了当代人类的生存状态。In The Ghost Writer Philip Roth explores how the protagonists conquer their free will with rational will and make ethical choices when suffering ethical dilemma, by which Roth interprets the modem Sphinx fiddle for readers, namely how to be a rational writer and a rational man. By demonstrating the protagonists＇ inner contradictions, confusion, uncertainty and frustration, Roth offers us a good interpretation of the survival state of contemporary human beings.
