Objective:To study the interface between the bone and C/C composite dental implants with the surface modified by hydroxyapatite through animal experiment. Methods:Ten young pigs were divided into experimental group and control group randomly. The pigs of control group were implanted hydroxyapatite-coated titanium implants and normal steel respectively to observe the negative reaction and positive reaction. Experimental materials and control materials were implanted into femur of pigs. The pigs were killed to observe the interface between the materials and the bone after 3 months. Results:In the experimental group, osseo-integrated interface was found in 2 pigs of the total 5 pigs, and fibro-osseo- integrated interface was found in other 3 pigs.In the control group,osseo-integrated interface was found in the 4 pigs in which the hydroxyapatite-coated titanium implants were implanted, but the bone around the normal steel is much porous. There is a gap between the porous bone and normal steel. Conclusions:Two kinds of interfaces ( osseo-integrated interface and fibro-osseo- integrated interface ) are present between the bone and this kind of modified layer of C/C composite dental implants.
