摘　　要：世界医学会是一家代表医生发声的非营利性和非政府性组织,现有来自112个国家和地区医学会成员,其宗旨是为成员学会搭建平台,促进会员彼此交流与合作、形成有关职业道德和专业技能等医学伦理与社会医学指南与共识、在全世界倡导医生的自由执业、为患者提供高水平与人性化的医护服务,以营造健康环境、提升世界人民生活质量,并在推动当代医学发展中发挥积极的促进作用。通过全面介绍世界医学会的历史、组织机构与主要活动,分析并总结世界医学会在推动当代医学发展中地位与作用,为中国更好地参与世界医学会活动,更多地为世界医学发展做出贡献,提出积极的思考与启示。World Medical Association （WMA） is a non-profit and non-governmental global organization representing the voice of physicians, which has 112 constituent members now. Its mission is to provide platform for bilateral communications and cooperation, draft guidelines and consensus on medical ethics and social medicine including professional morality and skills, etc, advocate professional autonomy worldwide, provide highest standard care service, create healthy environment and improve the quality of people＇s life in the world and facilitate the active development of modern medicine. By introducing the history of WMA and its organizational structure and main activities, the authors analyzed the active role of WMA in promoting the development of modern medicine. Meanwhile the implications for China to better participate in the activities of WMA and promote the development of medicine in the world were provided.
