谜米学视角下“小人”的英译

摘　　要：《论语》是儒家学派的经典著作,里面的很多词汇蕴含着丰富的文化内容,"小人"就是其中之一。以往的译者多以归化策略为指导,采用意译、阐释等方法对该词进行翻译,过分关注了译文的通顺性和读者的可接受性,却忽略了源语中的重要文化信息。根据谜米学理论,"新谜米"应对"原谜米"进行精确复制,以确保在传播中的高保真度、多产性和长寿性。作为"谜米"的"小人"应在异化策略指导下,采用音译方法,以更好地传播中国传统文化。The Analects is the classic of Confucian school,in which many words contain the rich cultural content and 'xiaoren'( '小人') is among them. The scholars usually emphasized the domesticating strategy and then used such methods as free translation and interpretation to translate it,paying excessive attention to the smoothness and acceptability and neglecting the important cultural message of source language. According to 'memetics',the new 'meme'should copy the original one exactly so as to ensure the high fidelity,fecundity and longevity. We should apply the transliteration to translate the 'meme'—'xiaoren'under the guidance of the foreignizing strategy in order to convey the Chinese traditional culture well.
