Objective To investigate near infrared spectroscopy for prefrontal cortex flow asymmetry in patients with schizophrenia and their first degree relatives. Methods A total of 21 patients with schizophrenia in SZ group,20 first degree relatives of the patients without mental disorders in FR group and 21 healthy people in HY group were selected and examined with near infrared spectroscopy for prefrontal cortex flow asymmetry. Results There was significant difference for the asymmetry of oxyhemoglobin between Channel 6 and Channel 16 in HY group( P〈0. 05),but there were no differences in SZ group and FR group( P〈0. 05). There were significant differences for the asymmetry of deoxygenated hemoglobin between Channel 3 and Channel 20,Channel 4 and Channel 19,Channel 11 and Channel 13 in HY group( P〈0. 05),but there were no differences in SZ group and FR group( P〈0. 05). There was significant difference for the asymmetry of deoxygenated hemoglobin between Channel 2 and Channel 17 in SZ group( P〈0. 05). Conclusion There is prefrontal cortex flow asymmetry in patients with schizophrenia and their first degree relatives.
