摘　　要：元认知理论应用于高校英语教学,有助于提升学生英语学习效率,帮助学生找到适合自己的学习策略和学习方法,引导学生自主学习。高校英语教师要帮助学生提高元认知水平,丰富其元认知知识,强化学生的元认知体验,鼓励学生开展自主学习。Metacognition theory is able to help students improve learning efficiency by means of proper learning strategies and methods and offer guidance to them in autonomous learning if it is applied to college English teaching. A teacher should try to encourage his or her students to learn autonomously by improving their metacognitive level, enrich their metacognitive knowledge and reinforce their metacognitive experiences.
