英语人名的词源学探析

摘　　要：采用词源学的方法,对英语人名(即姓名中的"名")的词语来源和演变原因进行分类和分析。研究发现,按与英语的亲疏度,英语人名来源可以分为古英语、日耳曼同族语以及印欧同谱语三大类别。分析认为,英语人名主要受到交往密切、信仰变化和认知转变三个因素影响。With the application of etymological methodology,word sources and evolution reasons of English given names are studied. Through the analysis of a plenty of authentic data,it is found that English given names can be divided into three major types: Old English,Germanic language and Indo-European cognate language in terms of the degree of closeness with English proper. Furthermore,three key factors are discussed to explain the generation and evolution of English given names,consisting of frequency of contact,the change of beliefs and people's cognitive turns. Analysis suggests,the etymological study of English given names can provide inspirations for the cultural interpretation of names and etymological study.
