A Brief Review on Japanese Chinese-Character Fiction

摘　　要：日本汉文小说是指从日本奈良时期一直到江户明治时期,日本本土文人用汉语创作的文言文小说。以《日本汉文小说丛刊》收录的88部小说为研究对象,发现日本汉文小说体现出了虚与实、尚奇的小说观,具有补察史缺、惩恶扬善、游戏笔端自娱自乐以及提倡汉文和抒发愤懑之气的创作动机。江户时代及其后日本庶民文学的发达、汉学者儒者的身份以及汉文学的传统,在一定程度上抑制了日本汉文小说的发展。Japanese Chinese-character fiction refers to the Classical Chinese fiction created by the local Japanese literati by using Chinese from Nara period to Meiji period. This paper, by analyzing 88 fictions in Japanese Chinese-Character Fiction Series, found that the Japanese Chinese-character fictions reflect the fiction views of fact and fancy, and pursuing strangeness, with the creative motives of making up for the shortage of history, punishing evil-doers and encouraging people to do good, self entertainment and enjoyment, advocating Chinese, and expressing depressed and discontented feelings. The Edo period and the following development of Japanese popular literature, identity of Sinology scholars as Confucian scholars, and the tradition of Chinese literature inhibited the development of Japanese Chinese-character fictions to some extent.
