This experiment was conducted to study the effects of probiotics on growth performance, immune function and intestinal mucosa in chicken. Two hundred one-day-old chickens were divided into 2 groups (experimental group and control group) with two replicates. The experimental group was received the basal feed with 1.0 % probiotic, and control group fed on the basal feed. Growth performance, immune function and intestinal mucosa of chicken were detected during the experi- ment. The results showed that the average weight of experimental group was increased by 9% compared to control group (P 〈0. 05). The Fabrice's index and thymus index of experimental group were increased by 10. 44 %, 36. 56 % (P 〈 0. 05), at 25 days separately. Fabrice' s index, spleen index increased by 40.12% ,19.30% ,at 35 days(P〈0.05) separately. The intestinal wall and the intestinal mucosa of small intestine in experimental group were thicker than those of con- trol group, intestinal villus in experimental group were longer and thicker than control group. These results suggest that probiotics could increase body weight and immunity, and promote the growth of gut in chicken.
