《西游记》英译中的中西方文化差异研究——以詹纳尔译本为例

摘　　要：《西游记》描写了一个变化多端的神奇世界,创造了无数艺术形象。《西游记》的英译使得它在世界上得以传播。翻译是促进跨文化交际的一种重要手段,而在两种不同语言之间进行转化时,中西方文化差异最难处理。英国翻译家詹纳尔的《西游记》全译本具有很大的影响力。詹纳尔在《西游记》翻译中,主要使用了异化的策略进行谦称、尊称以及习语的翻译,以尽可能保持原文的韵味,更好地向西方读者传递了中国文化,但是由于文化差异的存在也出现了一些错译。A multifarious magical world and countless changeable artistic images are created in great work of Journey to the West. Translation is an important way to enhance the inter-cultural communication, and cultural difference is one of the most difficult problems to handle in the conversion between two different languages. The translation version of W. J. F. Jenner＇s is a very famous one. Jenner mainly used the strategy of foreignization in the translation process of self-deprecia- tory expressions, honorific appellations and idioms to keep the original flavor and make a better delivery of the Chinese culture. It also points out that there are some mistakes in Jenner＇s translation because of the cultural difference.
