Objective To analyze the role of Stathmin-1 and p16 in grading of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia, and to provide information for clinical treatment. Methods Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of Stathmin-1 and p16 in normal cervical tissues and intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN), which made CIN grading more accurate. Results The positive expression rates of Stathmin-1 in normal cervical tissues, CINI, CINII and CINIII were 6.7%, 25%, 42.2% and 91.7%, respectively. The positive expression rates of p16 in normal cervical tissues, CINⅠ, CINⅡ and CINⅢ were 13.3%, 70%, 100% and 93.8%, respectively. The results indicated that Stathmin-1 is more specific than p16 in classification and identification of squamous lesions of squamous epithelium of the cervix. Conclusion Stathmin-1 was overexpressed in CINIII, and in the low grade lesions did not express or partial expression, is helpful in the differential diagnosis of high level and low level of CIN and benign changes, and for clinical diagnosis and treatment of what kind of treatment to help.
