忠实否? 熊式一《天桥》自译策略的伦理解读

摘　　要：相比普通意义上的翻译,自译的特殊性在于译者享有更大"自由",即常常对原作有更多改写,这似乎违背了翻译"忠实性"的本质要求,因此有很多关于自译是翻译还是创作的争论。以熊式一自译小说《天桥》为研究对象,以其对中国传统风俗和文化符号的翻译为关注点,从翻译伦理角度分析其翻译策略,发现自译者在翻译策略上灵活变通,不囿于文本形式的束缚,而在写作意图层面,是恪守"忠实性"原则的。Self- translation,compared with translation in its general sense,is peculiar because the self-translators enjoy more “ free-dom”. It seems like a violation of the principle of ^“ aithfulness” , and has become a source of heated debate over whether self- transla-tion should be classed as a translation”. The Bridge of Heaven was written by S. I. Hsiung in English and self-translated into Chinese. By analyzing his translation strategies on traditional Chinese customs and cultural icons from an ethical perspective, the study found that self-translators, though not constrained by the text form, observed the principle of “ faithfulness” in writing intention.
