摘 要:长城是华夏民族的精神体现,而不是封闭保守的象征。建造长城的战国秦汉时期,正是华夏民族快速发展、充满活力的时期,这一时期的华夏民族胸襟开阔,思想恢弘,充满自信和自豪,这一时期修筑的长城,不可能体现出保守、畏惧和退缩的精神内涵。修筑长城,是当时农耕民族对付游牧民族的最佳选择。长城从来没有束缚住农耕民族的手脚,反而成为农耕民族向北方边疆地区开拓的桥头堡。长城的修筑,既体现了华夏民族爱好和平、守护文明的民族特点,也体现了进取奋进、开拓有为的民族精神。The Great Wall is the embodiment of the spirit of the Chinese nation, rather than a symbol of enclosure and conservatism. The Warring States Period and the Qin and Han Dynasties, during which the Great Wall was built,form a period of rapid development and vitality of the Chinese nation. During this period, Chinese nation was characterized by its confidence and its sublimity and generosity of minds. The Great Wall that was built within this period could not reflect a spirit of conservatism, fear and withdrawal. The building of the Great Wall was the best choice for the agrarian people to deal with the challenges brought by nomadic people at that time. The Great Wall never bound the hands and feet of the agrarian people, but instead became the bridgehead for the agrarian people to open up to the northern frontier.The construction of the Great Wall embodies not only the ethnic characteristics of Chinese people, but also the enterprising and pioneering spirit of the nation.
