摘　　要：在《游泳者》中,约翰·契弗以独特的表现技巧创造了文本中独特的城市意象,即将郊区想象为城市意象,通过全知叙述者来构建城市空间并用动态的描述来勾画城市意象。同时,城市意象对文本空间的建构作用以及城市意象与神话意境产生之间的关系都演示了契弗在文本中对城市意象的艺术建构。In＂The Swimmer＂,John Cheever has created unique urban images by means of his special representational techniques among which are the imagination of the suburbs as an urban image,the construction of the urban space via the narration of an omniscient narrator and the picturing of the urban images by the dynamic description. Meanwhile,the construction of the textual space by urban images and the relationship between the urban images and the mythical atmosphere indicate Cheevers＇ s textual and artistic construction of the urban images.
