马克·吐温和严歌苓笔下的华人形象比较研究——以《苦行记》和《扶桑》为例

摘　　要：马克·吐温在游记《苦行记》第五十四章中以幽默讽刺的语言描写了19世纪中后期寄居美国的华人劳工的遭遇,旅美作家严歌苓的长篇小说《扶桑》则主要描写了同时代中国女人扶桑在美国的经历。通过比较二者在作品中塑造的华人形象,可以基本还原当时美国华人的生存现状,透视中美两种不同语境下所表现出的文化冲突。Chapter 54 of Mark Twin＇s travel notes Roughing It describes the Chinese workers＇ experience in the United States in the late 19 th century in humorous language. Chinese American writer Yan Geling＇s novel The Lost Daughter of Happiness mainly depicts China＇s prostitute Fu Sang＇s experience in the United States in the same period. By comparing the images of Chinese people in the two writers＇ works,we can restore the living status of Chinese people in the United States at that time and gain insight into cultural conflict between China and America.
