Objective To study the correlation between senile post-stroke depression and serum homocysteine levels. Methods A total of 110 patients with cerebral apoplexy were enrolled in this study from June 2015 to January 2017. Patients were divided into two groups according to the depressive situation. Plasma Hcy levels were measured in blood samples, and plasma Hcy levels were compared between the two groups. Results The average plasma Hcy levels in the observation group were signifcantly higher than those in the control group, the difference was statistically signifcant (P〈0.05). Plasma Hcy levels in the patients with mild, moderateand severe groups were significantly different (P〈0.05), the higher the plasma Hcy level, the more severe the depression. Conclusion There is a positive correlation between senile post-stroke depression and serum homocysteine level. The higher the plasma Hcy level, the more serious the depression, reducing the serum homocysteine levels has a very good help for the treatment of depression.
