摘 要:可及性理论和心理空间理论为"the"的研究提供了新的视角。在综述前人对"the"的研究基础上,用可及性和心理空间理论阐释"the"在话语中有别于传统语法功能的其他功能,如表示话语显著度、角色地位和视角变化等,并结合实例分析"the"在话语中的认知建构,可以得出结论:"the"在话语中的具体阐释与语境密切相关,从语法功能走向认知语用功能才能更恰当地阐释"the"在话语中的意义和作用。The Accessibility Theory and Mental Spaces Theory provide a new perspective of the study of "the". Based on a literature review of the study of "the",this thesis makes an attempt to interpret a range of functions of "the"in discourse from the perspectives of accessibility and mental spaces: discourse prominence,role status,and point-of-view shift,which are different from the traditional grammatical function,and to analyze the cognitive construction of"the"in discourse,based on the empirical evidence. Thus it points out that the specific interpretation of "the"in discourse is inseparable from the context. To provide a felicitous interpretation of "the"in discourse,one needs to approach it from the grammatical function to cognitive and pragmatic functions.
