摘　　要：翻译共性研究开展几十年来,对于何谓翻译共性,甚至是否存在翻译共性等问题一直没有定论。本文在批判性回顾、分析翻译共性研究的滥觞与发展后认为,翻译共性最初被认为是翻译过程的一种内在属性或一种规约性法则,但真正的翻译共性本质上应该体现为译者对翻译语言的普遍认知模式。The researches on translation universals（ TUs） have been progressing for decades. Yet there still lacks a wide agreement on the conception of TUs. After a critical review and analysis of the initial researches and the development of TUs,this paper holds that the concept of TUs was at first misinterpreted as an innate attribute in translation process,or a normative law in translators＇ activities,but its real essence should be translators＇ universal cognitive patterns of translation language.
