Effects of 2-methylfuran(MF)addition on combustion and emissions were investigated on a modified four-cycle,4-storke,water-cooled,DICI engine coupled with a common rail fuel injection system. The results show that the cylinder pressure and heat release rate increase in peak and the emissions of CO and HC are decreased while the emission of NOxincreased when the diesel is blended with MF.With the increase of mass fraction MF,the number of nuclear modal particles has increased and the number of accumulative particles has decreased.Compared to the single injection,pre-injection can raise the peak of cylinder pressure and reduce the peak of heat release rate effectively. The smaller pre-injection angle is benefited to the reduction of HC,CO and NOxemissions. As the pilot injection timing is advanced, the PM number in nucleation mode is increased while the PM mass in accumulation mode is reduced.
