摘　　要：伍光建是清末民国著名的翻译家,一生翻译西洋哲学、历史、伦理学、宗教与小说等作品多达百余种,是近代白话翻译的开拓者。伍光建一生的翻译成就与其早年留学教育不可分离,1886—1890年他曾先后留学英国格林尼治海军学院和伦敦大学。在英留学期间,他受到了比较系统的海军知识和物理学的专门训练,也建构了自己的世界眼光和双重视野。回国后他一度服务于南洋公学,在1899年7月至1902年底伍光建被聘为南洋公学提调并兼任师范院英文教习,后任职总提调,其间曾为推动留英活动做出突出贡献,成为李复几等留欧学生的引路人。正是凭借了留英教育的优势,他有效地把握了中西两种文化各自的特点和相互关系,为中西文化的对话和沟通,贡献了多才又多彩的一生。Wu Guangjian was a famous translator during the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China.He translated more than one hundred kinds of works such as western philosophy,history,ethics,religion and fiction in his life,and he was the pioneer of modern vernacular translation.His translation achievements were inseparable from his early years of study abroad education.From 1886 to 1890 he studied at the Greenwich Naval College in England and the University of London,he received specialized training in comparative naval knowledge and physics,and built his own world vision.After returning to China,he once served Nanyang Gongxue.Wu had effectively grasped the respective characteristics and interrelationships between the two cultures of China and the West.For the dialogue and communication between Chinese and Western cultures,he had contributed his own talents and rich and colorful life.
