摘　　要：随着改革开放不断深入和国际交往日益频繁,我国公安机关急需更多能够熟练运用英语办理各类涉外案件的公安干警。最新制定的《大学英语教学指南》是大学英语教学改革的纲领性文件,其中有关专门用途英语课程定位与课程建设的阐述为警务英语课程建设与发展提供了重要的理论依据。同时,借鉴ESP研究理论成果,深入分析警务英语课程的语言教学性质、话语实践能力培养以及实现途径,对推动大学英语课程体系框架内的警务英语课程建设具有十分积极的意义。With the deepening of reform and opening-up, international exchanges have become increasingly frequent. The state needs more policemen who are able to speak English when undertaking all kinds of foreign-related cases. The newly developed College English Teaching Guide is the programmatic document for the reform of college English teaching, in which the elaboration of the orientation and course construction of specialized English course provides an important theoretical basis for the construction and development of police English courses. Based on the research of ESP, the paper intends to analyze the nature of language teaching of police English, the cultivation of discourse practice abilities and the way to achieve it, in order to promote the construction and development of the police English courses in the framework of college English curriculum system.
